General.
Do you deliver across Ireland?
Yes. Every Hayes Cabin Services unit is delivered nationwide from our base in West Cork. The truck-mounted cranes in our fleet lift the unit off the truck and position it exactly where you need it on-site, so no separate crane is required. RAMS documentation is provided in advance for every delivery as standard.
How quickly can you deliver?
Most deliveries are scheduled within 48–72 hours of order confirmation, subject to stock and route. For specialist modifications or bespoke builds the lead time is longer. We’ll confirm a firm date in writing before invoice.
Can I hire instead of buy?
Most units in the range are available for sale or hire. Hire works on weekly or monthly rates with delivery and collection included; sale is a one-off purchase. Long-term projects under roughly 18 months usually work out cheaper on hire. We’re happy to price both options side-by-side.
Do you provide RAMS and delivery paperwork?
Yes: Risk Assessment and Method Statement documents are issued in advance of every delivery, covering the lift, the site approach, and our banksman’s role. We can route paperwork through your procurement system if required (PDF, portal upload, or signed hard copy on arrival).
Are you set up for purchase orders and B2B invoicing?
Yes. Hayes Cabin Services Ltd is VAT-registered and works to standard account terms for established clients. We invoice against your PO number and supply unit-level reference codes for asset registers. Tier-one clients including Pfizer, HSE, MSD, AbbVie, ESB and Cork County Council are billed on this basis.
Jackleg cabins.
What is a jackleg cabin?
A jackleg cabin is a steel-framed, portable site cabin with adjustable legs (“jacks”) that allow it to be levelled on uneven ground. The construction is lighter than antivandal: making it cost-effective for offices, staff canteens, drying rooms, and other site facilities where heavy steel security construction isn’t the priority.
Apex roof or convex roof, which should I choose?
Convex is the standard rounded steel roof, robust and weather-tight. Apex is the pitched profile. The pitched profile delivers greater internal headroom and a more premium feel throughout. The choice usually comes down to budget and how the cabin will be used; we’re happy to talk through both for your site.
What comes fitted as standard in a jackleg cabin?
Every unit ships with LOT 20 compliant panel heaters, internal lighting, sockets, and full insulation. Walls are finished in 12.5mm plasterboard. Canteens are fitted with a sink unit and undercounter water heater as standard. Specific layouts (office, canteen, drying room, security hut) come with the appropriate fit-out for the room type.
Can multiple cabins be linked together on-site?
Yes, cabins can be positioned side-by-side or end-to-end and linked with door openings or covered walkways to form a larger site facilities block. We can plan the layout with you in advance so the delivered units arrive ready to combine.
Do you supply drying rooms?
Yes. Our drying room cabins are fitted with freestanding coathooks and benches, with lockers also available on request. The LOT 20 panel heaters and ventilation keep wet weather gear dry between shifts.
Antivandal cabins.
What’s the difference between antivandal and jackleg construction?
Antivandal cabins use heavy steel security construction throughout: fully welded steel walls, doors, and shutters, designed to resist forced entry and impact. They also include an external electrical connection point as standard so the unit can be powered up before final fit-out. Jackleg cabins are lighter steel-framed builds, appropriate where extended security construction isn’t required.
Does the heavy steel construction affect the comfort inside?
No, antivandal units are fully insulated and lined with 12.5mm plasterboard, then fitted with LOT 20 compliant panel heaters and internal lighting. Inside, they feel the same as a jackleg cabin; the difference is in the shell.
Can antivandal cabins be linked to form larger setups?
Yes: antivandal cabins can be positioned and linked the same way as jackleg, end-to-end or side-by-side, to create larger offices, canteens, or site facilities blocks. We’ll plan door positions and external electrical connection points in advance.
What’s antivandal best suited for?
Antivandal is the right choice anywhere extended steel construction is preferred over standard jackleg: typically when the unit will be on-site for an extended period, when it needs to be left unattended outside working hours, or when client procurement specifies it as standard. Pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and engineering clients often spec antivandal as default for this reason.
Storage containers.
What’s the difference between Container Sets, standard containers, and specialised containers?
Container Sets are our compact range (6ft, 7ft, 8ft, 9ft, 10ft): purpose-built smaller units, ideal for tight sites, gardens, or supplementary storage. Standard containers are the familiar 20ft and 40ft shipping-container format. Specialised containers cover side-opening, tunnel (doors at both ends), and multistore configurations for specific access or layout requirements.
Are your containers new or used? What does “one trip” mean?
Our containers are described as “one trip”, manufactured at source and shipped on a single voyage to Europe carrying a load, then withdrawn from the pool. They’ve never been in the second-hand market. That gives you a near-new condition (paint intact, no dents, doors true) at a significantly lower price than a brand-new build.
Can you modify a container before delivery?
Yes. All modifications happen in-house in West Cork before the container leaves. Personnel doors, roller shutters, opening windows with bars, internal LED lighting and sockets, heavy-duty galvanised shelving, ventilation, and marine-grade paint in any RAL shade are all available. We finish to your spec so the unit arrives ready to use.
Will the container be watertight?
Yes. Every container leaves our Castlefreke base with sealed doors, intact drainage channels, and marine-grade paint. We guarantee it watertight on delivery, if anything’s not right, we put it right.
What ground does a container need to sit on?
Level hardstanding is ideal: concrete, tarmac, or compacted hardcore. For grass, gravel, or soft ground we recommend hardwood timber bearers, which we can supply. Send us a photo of the intended position and we’ll confirm what’s needed before the delivery date.
Container shelving.
Do you fit the shelving inside the container for me?
Yes. Order shelving with a container and we’ll install it in West Cork before delivery. It arrives ready to load. If you already have a container, we can supply flat-pack for self-assembly, everything bolts together without welding or specialist tools.
What loads can the shelves take?
Our standard rivet shelving is rated for industrial use. Each shelf tier handles significant uniform load: suitable for boxed goods, tools, parts, and palletised items. Contact us if you need to discuss specific load requirements.
What sizes are available?
We stock two shelf footprints: 1220 × 610mm and 1500 × 600mm. Both build five tiers high at 1800mm. The 1220mm width fits a 20ft or 40ft container with a clear central aisle. The 1500mm suits 40ft containers and heavier loads.
Can I move or reconfigure the shelving later?
Yes. Rivet shelving is fully demountable. No welding, no permanent fixings. Tiers adjust in height, and the whole unit can be disassembled and rebuilt if you need to reconfigure your container layout.
Do you hire shelving as well as sell it?
Shelving is available for sale only. It’s priced to own and pairs naturally with our container hire offering: hire the container, buy the shelving, and you have a fully equipped storeroom from day one.
Toilets and showers.
Plumbed vs serviced, which do I need?
Plumbed (mains-connected) blocks are fit-and-forget for long-term sites with water and foul drainage on the boundary, wired in once, used like a permanent WC. Serviced (vac-tank) units run independent of mains; we partner with a serviced-toilet operator for weekly servicing across your hire. Chemical units carry their own waste tank for short-duration or remote sites.
What’s the difference between jackleg and antivandal toilet cabins?
Same fit-out, different shell. Jackleg sanitary units sit on six adjustable legs in a light steel frame, quicker to land, lighter on transport. Antivandal units are full steel-clad with shuttered windows and reinforced doors, built for unsecured, rural or out-of-hours sites where vandalism is a risk.
Do you do larger multi-cubicle blocks?
Yes. We hold 16ft × 10ft shower blocks (4-cubicle) and 16ft / 20ft toilet blocks (3+1 and 4+1) in stock, plus 24ft × 10ft 8-cubicle blocks for larger crews. For pharma-grade or fully tiled wet-room specifications, we run those as modular builds, call the office for a sit-down spec.
Can you deliver and install on a live site?
Standard. Every sanitary unit is delivered and crane-positioned by our own truck-mounted HIAB fleet, with RAMS and lift plan issued in advance. Plumbed blocks include final connection to your boundary points (water, foul, power) on the day.
Are the toilet cabins for hire, sale, or both?
Both. Short-term sites typically hire weekly or monthly; long-term bases and permanent staff facilities are usually purchase. Shower blocks and larger multi-cubicle units go either way. We’ll price both side-by-side so you can compare.
What’s the difference between a chemical toilet cabin and a plumbed toilet cabin?
A chemical toilet cabin is fully self-contained. No water or drainage connection needed; the waste is held in a tank inside the unit and serviced periodically. Plumbed cabins (the jackleg and antivandal toilet cabins) connect to a mains water and drainage supply, with flushing toilets and a hand-wash basin. Chemical is the simplest to deploy; plumbed gives a closer-to-permanent facility.
Are toilet and shower cabins fully fitted out on delivery?
Yes. Every unit ships fully fitted: sanitaryware, partitions, lighting, ventilation, and LOT 20 compliant panel heaters. The 16ft and 20ft toilet blocks include WC partitions and basins; the shower cabins include cubicles, shower units, and changing-area benches.
Do you handle servicing or emptying of the toilets?
We can advise on local servicing partners for chemical units and on recurring emptying schedules. For plumbed units, the customer manages mains and drainage connections on-site. Our delivery and positioning gets the cabin ready for those connections.
Can you supply combined toilet and shower units?
Yes. The 5ft × 7ft Jackleg Toilet & Shower Cabin combines both in a single wet-room layout. For larger setups, separate toilet and shower cabins can be positioned together and linked. We’ll spec the right combination for the number of users on-site.
Site accommodation.
What’s the difference between jackleg and antivandal?
Jackleg cabins are steel-frame on six adjustable legs: lighter, faster to deploy, ideal for daily-use office and canteen spaces on serviced sites. Antivandal cabins are full steel-clad with shuttered windows and reinforced doors: heavier, more secure, built for rural, unsecured or long-duration sites where theft, vandalism or weather are a real risk.
Can I mix jackleg and antivandal in one compound?
Yes, common pattern is jackleg offices and canteens (where the crew lives) and antivandal stores and toilet blocks (where security matters). All link together on the same compound and ship on the same delivery.
Are toilet cabins plumbed or serviced?
Both. Plumbed blocks connect to mains water and foul, fit-and-forget for long-term sites. Serviced (vac-tank) units run independent of mains. We partner with a serviced-toilet operator for weekly servicing across your hire.
How fast can a full compound be delivered?
Standard 5–10 unit compounds run 1–3 weeks from confirmed order, depending on stock. Custom finishes (branded paint, vinyl walls) add 1–2 weeks. Single units from stock typically go same-week.
Tower lights and generators.
What size generator do I need?
Tell us the equipment list and expected run hours and we’ll size the set. As a rule, a site office and welfare run on 20–60 kVA; full-site power or events usually need 100 kVA and up. Over-sizing wastes fuel; under-sizing trips out, so it’s worth a two-minute call.
Do you deliver and set up tower lights and generators?
Yes. Every unit is delivered, positioned and commissioned by our own drivers. The same fleet that delivers our cabins and containers. You don’t need any lifting equipment on site.
Are the units quiet enough for events and urban sites?
Yes. Our generators run in silenced canopies (typically under 70 dBA at 7m) and the tower lights are LED with low-noise engines. We hire regularly to events and town-centre works with strict noise limits.
Are your tower lights LED?
Yes. We run LED units from VT1 and Trime. LED heads reach full brightness instantly, use significantly less fuel than older metal-halide lights, and run longer between refuelling.
Do you deliver fuel and service the units?
Units arrive fuelled and tested. On longer hires we schedule refuelling and servicing so the set keeps running without you managing it. Fuel bowsers and management are available for high-consumption sites.
Can I hire long-term, or is it events only?
Both. We hire by the weekend for events and by the month or year for construction sites and compounds, and everything we hire is also available to purchase outright.
How long do the tower lights run between refuels?
Our LED tower lights run up to around 100 hours on a single tank depending on settings, typically a week or more of nightly use before refuelling.
Hire or buy?
Tower lights and generators are almost always hired: short-term need, ongoing servicing, and no asset on your books. We’ll quote purchase for permanent standby power if that’s the better fit.
Can you power a full cabin compound?
Yes, and it’s where one-supplier really pays off. We size the generator against the actual cabin spec, deliver cabins, power and lighting on the same schedule, and you have one number to ring for all of it.
Barriers and fencing.
How are Heras panels set?
Panels slot into pre-cast concrete blocks (one block per pair of panels). For windy / coastal sites we double-block. For permanent installs, we core-drill and bolt to slab.
Can I paint the hoarding?
Yes, solid hoarding panels accept either paint or applied vinyl wraps. For multi-month installs, branded hoarding is a no-brainer.
Do you do traffic management plans?
We supply the kit: barriers, lights, cones, signs. For fully planned traffic management (TM) on public roads, we partner with a TM specialist; we’ll coordinate the contract.
What’s the lead time?
Standard Heras and pedestrian barrier orders ship within 48 hours of confirmation. Branded hoarding adds 1–2 weeks for vinyl print + apply.
Event hire.
How far in advance should I book event kit?
For summer festival season, the earlier the better, key dates book out months ahead. For smaller events we can often turn a full package around inside a week. Either way, call the office with your dates first and we’ll hold stock while the plan firms up.
Do you deliver, set up and collect after the event?
Yes, delivery, positioning and collection are all done by our own drivers and crane trucks. We work to your site map and your derig schedule, and tight access is rarely a problem with our powersteer trailers.
Can toilets be serviced during a multi-day event?
Yes. We offer multi-day servicing for toilets and showers so facilities stay clean and stocked for the full run of the event, agreed as part of the package when you book.
Can you supply everything for an event site from one place?
That’s the point of us. Cabins for box office, production, medical and crew; toilets and showers; generators and tower lights; barriers and fencing. One supplier, one delivery schedule, one phone number.
What events have you supplied?
Hayes kit has supported events across Munster and beyond for decades: including sailing’s Volvo Cork Week, county shows, race meetings and corporate events. Ask us about your event type and we’ll tell you exactly what we’d put on site.
Delivery and our fleet.
Do I need a crane or forklift on site for delivery?
No. Our trucks are self-loading. The crane is on the vehicle, and our drivers plan and carry out the lift. You need access for the truck and a clear spot for the unit; we handle the rest.
How much access does the truck need?
Less than you’d think. We check access before the truck leaves West Cork (gateways, overhead lines, ground conditions) and for genuinely tight sites our powersteer trailer steers cabins through gaps a standard artic can’t. Send us the Eircode and a couple of photos and we’ll tell you straight away.
Can you lift a cabin over a wall or fence?
Often, yes. Our Palfinger PK135.002 gives 27 metres of reach without the flyjib, which puts cabins into back yards and compounds without opening up the boundary. Every lift like this is planned in advance against the crane’s duty chart.
Can you move or relocate a cabin I already own?
Yes: relocations, removals and site-to-site moves are quoted case-by-case, whether or not the unit came from us. The same survey-first approach applies.
